About Long Island Area Council of Unitarian Universalist Congregations

Long Island Area Council of Unitarian Universalist Congregations (LIAC) connects UUs across the Island through education, advocacy, service, and spirituality. The Long Island Conference was formed with representatives of congregations from Nassau, Suffolk, and Queens Counties in 1959. The Council was formally recognized in 1974 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

Today, LIAC allows congregations to collaborate, share resources, and connect with other liberal religious minds and hearts beyond their home community. In 2024, the Board hired an Executive Director as a commitment to a thriving future. This is an exciting time to join LIAC as we identify ways to upscale the Council’s work and begin our first strategic planning process.

About the Role

This role will work closely with the LIAC Executive Director and Executive Board to ensure organizational success.

Salary $25/hr
Hours  5-10 hours per week, mostly asynchronous with 1-2 bi-weekly meetings
Location Remote first, possibility for in-person events for local hires

Who you are:

A person who will succeed in this role is able to see tasks and is not afraid to get to work. Due to the remote nature of the work, you will need to work independently without a lot of supervision. While you will be supported in success, you should be a curious person who wants to learn new processes and technology. To feel good about your work, you must align with our values, especially the worth and dignity of all. If you have a background in data or project management, CMS or website management/development, and good communication skills we want you! You are able to show up with empathy and understanding.

What you’ll do:

As an organization we use Hubspot for CMS, email marketing, and CRM. Donor management and event ticketing is hosted on Zeffy. We are currently working on automation to connect Zeffy with Hubspot. For communication, content creation, meeting management, and sharing, LIAC uses Google Workspace. The administrator will be given their own Canva pro account for collaboration and branded design.

Communications

Our biggest contribution to the Long Island UU community is acting as a hub of knowledge for our members. We strive to reach the broadest possible audience. This means communicating in ways that meet or exceed WCAG AA web accessibility standards.

  • Maintain up to date contact lists for LIAC representatives, ministers, religious educators, congregational boards and staff, key stakeholders, and subscribers
  • Ensure donations are properly logged in CRM
  • Help to maintain organizational structures and process within Google Workspace shared drives
